History V.v.N.K. - Geel:

Our club was founded in 1973 with the objective to promote and study the breeding, caring and showing of the colour canaries with the latest new colours. The first show was organised in November 1973. Now we are approaching our 33th edition, on which we kindly invite you.
The graph below shows the evolution of the number of judged canaries on our show since 1973. It all started very small with about 400 birds. Especially since the beginning of the nineties, our show had an explosive growth, with a (temporary) record in 2004: we then had 5.879 judged, young colour canaries at our show.

We saw the same growth at the level of the number of participants to our show, as well in the height (number of participants) as in the breadth (different nationalities). 2000 was again a new record year with 348 participants amongst which 198 Belgians, 79 Dutch, 31 Germans, 24 French, 13 Italians and one participant from Denmark, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Ile de Réunion.

As a result of this growth we kept on getting more and more birds in each class. Over the years we continued to subdivide the classes and since 2004, we have gone to 460 classes.
